On Friday October 11, 2024, the Lord whispered in the ear of our beloved Anita Amelia Tymes, PEACE BE THINE, and she entered into eternal rest. Anita affectionately known as "Aunt Nino" and "Auntie" was born on August 19, 1947 to Mary B. Williams and Ernest W. Tymes, Sr. As the fourth child of eight children, Anita's quiet and loving spirit spoke volumes. She could light up any room that she entered, with her warm presence, infectious smile and laughter. Anita excelled academically, graduating from St. Charles Borromeo and Hallahan High School. She loved sports, especially volleyball and bowling. Anita was a proud Camp Fire Girl, earning several badges. Given all of the good works that Anita did at St. Charles Borromeo, the late Father John Van de Paer named Anita and her best friends the Magnificent Five. She enjoyed skiing, camping, hiking, sewing and crocheting. An avid television watcher, she loved game shows and Hallmark movies. Anita was a dedicated and committed public servant who worked for the Federal Government at the Social Security Administration for 52 years! Anita loved her family, always enjoying spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews and was known in the neighborhood as "Auntie." Anita also took on a caregiver role to many and loved attending events and activities to support her family. Always willing to volunteer, she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, Pack 433 for twelve years. Anita was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish for over 70 years, where she sang soprano on the choir and served on several ministries. Anita also enjoyed worshipping at St. Rita of Cascia and St. Thomas Aquinas. Indicative of her giving spirit, she cooked and provided food to those in need, particularly the elderly and the disabled as part of the Aid for Friends. Anita was loved by so many and will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. Her parents, Mary and Ernest Tymes, Sr., sister Ernestine and brother George preceded her in death. Anita leaves to cherish her memory, three children Anthony, Sheena and Aaron; one sister Ann; four brothers; Ernest, Jr. (Madeline); Bernard (Patricia); Michael Joann); and Mark; adoptive brother, Dennis Orr (Crystal); two Godsons, Christopher and Kyle; daughter-in-law, Cynthia; sister-in-law, Velma; dearest friend, Brenda Hayes; the Blackwell Sisters; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
