Barry’s Story

Barry Preston Williams was born on June 17, 1952, in Philadelphia Pa. and raised by his parents Preston & Norma Willaims, and Helen Gray. Barry has six siblings, Thomas (Kash), James (Jimmy), Vanessa, Harlan (Toots), Robert (Bobby), and Monica.

Barry attended Saints Charles Borromeo Catholic School during his early years, and later graduated from Saints John Neumann Catholic High School, Philadelphia, Pa., Class of 1971.

After graduating high school, Barry worked and hung out with one of his bests friend Gilbert until he met one of the greatest things that ever happened to him, Francine. After dating for over a year, Barry married the love of his life, Francine Williams on December 25, 1976, in Glassboro Nj.

A few years after getting married, Barry worked for Reliance Standard Insurance, Philadelphia Pa. for over 7 years until the day he decided to leave and become a Commercial Truck Driver with North American Van lines, Indiana. After working with North American for several years, Barry was later offered a position with Mayflower/ Louderback, Lansdale Pa. He worked for Mayflower for over two decades. Along with working, Barry would coach Youth Basketball and Softball. If Barry wasn’t coaching, he would have been playing ball or riding the bike trails. Barry retired from trucking in 2018 and during his retirement, Barry spent time with his family, friends and traveling. He was always known for eating good food while keeping good company. You could always find Barry, his brothers and friends having breakfast or lunch at Oregon Diner. Barry could never meet a stranger, everyone he met was an instant friend for life. Barry has met many friends while driving across America. Every time he met someone; he would always start off all his conversations with a story. The stories would only create a new story for the next person he met. There have been times these stories connected to everyone he met in his lifetime.

Barry leaves behind his children: Sheree, Carl, Jason, Garrison, Jennifer, Son in-law, Leonard (Tommy) and Daughter In-law, Ebony. Grandchildren: Jevonte, Courtney, Allissia, Noel, Monae, Khasir, London, and Jupiter. He is survived by several siblings, a sister in-law, a brother in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
