DARRELL LANE JR. Darrell Lamont Lane Jr, a beloved son, grandson, brother, soulmate, stepfather, nephew, and cherished friend to many, was born on February 14, 1992, in Philadelphia, PA to Darrell and Gwendolyn Lane. Darrell attended elementary, middle, and high school in the School District of Philadelphia. He studied Business Administration and played football at Wesley College in Dover, DE and later transferred to Cheyney University. Darrell worked as a security guard at Presbyterian Hospital for many years. He later attended Smith & Solomon Trucking School and received his certified driver's license and currently worked as a cross-country truck driver for Roadtex Transportation. Darrell shared a deep, unbreakable bond with his mother, filled with unconditional love. He was her baby boy, her protector, and the apple of her eye. To his father, Darrell was his pride and joy, his right-hand man, and best friend. Eleven years ago, Darrell met his soulmate, Tykita. Together, they built a loving home for their son, Konner, and their dog, Money, creating cherished memories as they traveled together. Darrell, affectionately known as "Little Darrell", "D. Lane", and "Block", was a loving and fun individual with a heart of gold. His smile, laughter, and bubbly personality filled any room. He was a tall man in stature - a gentle giant with a gentle soul and known for his love of children. His stepson, nieces, nephews, and little cousins were the light of his life. His love and passion for children extended beyond his family to his dedicated work in youth sports activities. Darrell was a dedicated football dad, accompanying his stepson Konner to drills and games on a regular basis. He was an alumnus of John Bartram High School where he played basketball and football. A true "Bartram Brave 4 Life", he remained active with Bartram's football team as a coach. He helped coach the team to win the 2022 - 2023 Philadelphia Public League Championship. Darrell served as the offensive coach for the Brotherly Love Elite (BLE) Huskies and as the defensive coach for AYF League's West Philadelphia Tarheels. Additionally, he coached at Fast Lane Boxing, where he trained five promising boxers. A true sports fanatic, Darrell was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Sixers. Darrell delighted in traveling and creating fun-loving memories with family. He was family-oriented and loved his family tremendously. His love, dedication, and commitment to family was displayed when he answered calls whenever someone was in need. He loved family gatherings and was always present at family reunions, weddings, cookouts, holidays, proms, graduations, and baby showers. You name it - he was there, and he was ready and willing to lend a helping hand. Darrell is preceded in death by his grandparents Bobby and Pearlie Lane, grandfather James Mears, and Uncle Michael Smith. His memories will be cherished by his parents: Darrell and Gwendolyn Lane; his sisters: Jasmine Lane and Jada Lane; grandmother, Annie Smith; soulmate, Tykita Maxwell and stepson, Konner Graham; two nephews and two nieces: Zion Lane, Marley Lane, Milan Lane and Miley Lane; very close cousin, Miguel Robinson; aunts: Charlene Chapman, Rachael (Percy) Hogan, Theresa Smith, and Keesha Lane; uncles: Tyrone Smith, Bobby Lane Jr., Edward Turner, and Victor (Xandra) Lane; best friend Keyon Tate, and a host cousins and friends who also mourn his loss. Darrell's legacy of love and kindheartedness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.
