LIFE STORY
Donald Vincent was born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 14, 1940, to Buster Vincent and Nettie Belle Praylo.
Donald was a proud product of the Philadelphia School system, where his love for sports flourished. At Ben Franklin High School, he distinguished himself as an All-City athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track. His journey continued at NC A&T and Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. Donald also made his mark in semi-pro football with the South Philadelphia Rams.
Outside of sports, Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter, and his culinary skills were unmatched. His Seafood Delight became a beloved favorite among friends and family.
Donald dedicated 42 years to Lewis Sherman Corrugated Box Company, where he served as a Foreman for much of that time. During his time at Lewis Sherman, he met his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Brown. Together, Donald and Liz built a beautiful life having spent 57 years together, raising five children and cherishing their road trips to the shore and Atlanta to visit their growing family of grand and great-grandchildren.
Donald took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, frequently boasting about their achievements at work and church. He made it a point to celebrate every milestone, no matter the occasion or location.
Donald and Liz were deeply devoted to their faith, having been baptized together at Rising Sun Baptist Church. Donald's commitment to his church was unwavering; he sang in the choir, served as Treasurer and caterer for Church Anniversaries, was ordained as a Deacon, and even served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. His dedication to the church was a testament to his enduring faith and belief in supporting its mission.
Donald is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Liz, who passed away on August 7, 2020, and his son, Charles Mears.
He leaves behind a loving family who will treasure his memory: five daughters and two sons-in-law-Donna (Jeff), Denise (Mark), Carmen, Clarissa, and Tiffany; ten grandchildren-Brandi (George), Joseph Donald, Jason (Kerrin), Shavon (Ernest), Marcus, Jamahl, Qadree (Jessica), Chalonda (Carlton), Imani (Jameer), and Tifon; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, many of whom were raised alongside him. Donald Vincent's legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
