Dorothy Sims

Dorthy Naomi Lowber Sims was born on February 22, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to Eugene and Naomi Lowber, who were united in Holy matrimony. Sadly after a long and courageous fight, God laid his hands on Dorothy’s shoulder and guided her home on November 18, 2022.

Dorothy was educated in the Philadelphia School System where she excelled in History  and English. At the age of 16, Dorothy married Freedrick Sims, Which produced four sons (three which preceded her in death). Later on in life, she worked in retail and was known at numerous bars in Philly as “Big Dot the Hostess”.

“Dot”, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was a caretaker. She took care of and looked out for anyone in need who crossed her path. She loved cooking, sewing, giving words of advice, and watching her favorite show, “Law and order”. Above all else, she loved and lived for her family. She had a smile that would light up any room, and a laugh so loud and filled with joy with Joy that will truly be missed. 

She leaves to mourn: her son, Micheal; her daughter, Katrina; two sons preceded her death, Fredrick and Ronald; two special children bonded out of love, Renee and Tyrone; four granddaughters, Eshana, Daniyah, Nyashia and Tia; Four grandsons, Shydeem, Lamar, Umar, and Kareem; one great grandson, Musa; and a host of family and friends who loved and will miss her.
