Ellen Green Bryant, daughter of the late Samuel Green Jr. and Elizabeth Green was born on May 9th, 1948, in Philadelphia Pa. She was the sixth of eight children.
Ellen was educated in the Philadelphia School System, she attended Arthur Elementary School and Barlett Junior Highschool. During high school Ellen was very athletic, track and field was her gift. Ellen graduated from John F. Kennedy School of Culinary Arts.
In 1964 Ellen met the love of her life, Boise Bryant. He affectionately called her "Fat Cat". On April 1, 1967, they were married and formed a beautiful union.
During this union Elle and Boise had five wonderful children, Elizabeth, "Midge", Joseph, "Tiny", Moshae, "Moey", Alphonso, "Fonz", and Alishia, "Mooch".
Ellen was a highly skilled and professional ceramic artist, who shaped, formed and molded artwork out of clay. She also taught this skill to others at Marian Anderson Recreational Center. She enjoyed teaching her husband and children how to create ceramic pieces as well. Ellen was also highly skilled in teaching calligraphy to adults and children. She had a passion for writing poems and and reading, especially the Bible and Qu'ran. Her daughter Alishia would say; her mother would always have a book and a pen beside her. Ellen loved listening to music and dancing , she was an awesome dancer. Ellen also enjoyed crocheting, shopping and having a great time with her family.
Ellen was highly intelligent, incredible, outstanding humorous and a loyal wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She was kind-hearted, honest and very lovable. Everyone respected and admired her for good grace and loving heart.
Ellen leaves to cherish her legacy; her loving husband Bosie Bryant; Her sister Marian, brother-in-law Lewis; children Elizabeth, Joseph, Moshae, Alphonso, daughter in law Shavawn and her baby girl Alishia; step- children; Abby, Mark and Rhonda; god son Crawford, who affectionately called her LaLa; grandchildren who preceded her in death Joseph and storm; grandchildren; Mia, Erica, Dominique, Aaron, Marcus, Ivan, Anthony, Sasha, Andre, Da'Jah, Zamir, Aleem; great-grandchildren; Isaiah, Sanaa, Amorie, Hasinah, Sa'nari, Elijah, Amar, Ryleigh and Aaila and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
