Ellis Ookie Johnson

September 14, 1943 — December 31, 2020

Ellis Wayne Johnson (Affectionately known as "Ookie" or "Dog") was born on September 14, 1943 to MAry and Ellis Johnson in Germantown Hospital. In his Life journey Ookie resided in North Philadelphia and Germantown. His educational experience included Wister elementary school, Stoddart Fleisher Junior High and Benjamin Franklin High School. Ookie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age at Corinthian Baptist Church. He was frequent attendee at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church where he fellowshipped with his family. In his youth Ookie road horses, was a member of the drill team and was the owner of birds and frogs. The Sum of Ookie's Characteristics is extensive. In mentioning a few, they include being an excellent conversationalist, an advocare for those in need, a well read and well-versed individual a lover of good food, good sense of humor, a wonderful caregiver, a fun loving individual and undeniably a GREAT resource(if you needed anything ..he could get it for you or lead you to it!!) Ookie's favorite pastimes included shopping at flea markets, thrift shops, Dutch Country trips and visiting friends and Family. Ookie is preceded in Death by his loving wife, Diane and his mother. He is survived by: his sons, Wayne (Phyllis) & Darren (Patricia); grandchildren, Ashley, AMber, Korey, and Kennedy, great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ava, Jaxon, Rylee, & Nova. Brother, Ensely; Sisters, Karen, Paulette & Francine; Sister-in-law, Daisy; Brothers-in-law, Eric & Jackie; Nieces, Rhonda, Bettine, Selena, Bailey, & Quiana; Nephews, Kyle; Godchildren, Mia, Todd, Valerie, T.J. & Charlene; Dearest childhood friends, Rena Coleman; and a host of cousins and friends.
