Elmina Eudora "Ms. Mina" Parris was born on December 12th 1950, to Clotelle Inniss and William Nurse in Saint Michael, Barbados. She left her earthly vessel on may 20th, 2023, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Elmina was the eldest sister of Andrew Inniss and Harriet Alleyne. She went to St. Leonard's Secondary School in Barbados and graduated in 1965. Elmina Parris married the love of her life, Livingstone Parris, on December 20th, 1975. They shared a marriage filled with love and devotion to one another. Elmina loved her husband who often refers to her as his "baby", She immigrated to the United States on September 1st, 1986, to better the lives of her children. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and an affectionate grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed having her family together for holidays where you'd find her living room floor covered with tons of beautifully wrapped gift boxes.
She served the Lord in the choir ministry at Deliverance Evangelistic Church. Elmina was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church and in her later years, she was often ministered to by Pastor Amos of Covenant Outreach Center. She also touched the hearts of many young children through her occupation as a childcare provider. She was valued by her many employees who appreciated her genuine love and care for their children. She loved to listen to music, one of her favorite songs was "Look What The Lord Has Done" by Nathaniel Bassey. she would often gather gather the family to sing and dance along with her. She enjoyed beautifying her home with flowers and potted plants; she even has a blooming rose bush in her backyard.
Elmina is survived by her husband, Livingstone Parris, along with their ten children who they raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord; Linda Nurse (Son-in-Law; Ronald Nurse), Roger Inniss, Kathyann Smith ( Son-in-Law; Roger Smith), Karen Garwood (Son-in--Law; Brian Garwood), Shawn Inniss (Daughter-in-Law; Nicole Mcintosh-Inniss), Jacqueline Inniss, Sandra Parris, Livingstone Parris, Katrina Parris, Cherryann Phillips (Son-in-Law; Charles Phillips). She was also blessed and very proud in her twenty-three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was the Daughter-in-Law to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley & Stella Parris and Sister-in-Law to ten.
