Francis James Riley was born on June 20, 1945, to Marion Jessup and Dudley Riley Sr. in Philadelphia Pennsylvania He departed this life due to severe bleeding on his brian.
Francis was educated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia school system. Mafter graduating high school he attended Community College of Philadelphia and earned an Associate degree. From there, he attended Penn State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree. After accomplishing his bachelor’s degree he went to Temple University and graduated with a Master Degree as a License Social Worker.
During his career, he worked for numerous corporations such as the State of Pennsylvania Association of Realtors as a License Realtor . Saint Gabriel Hall as a Youth Counselor, School District of Philadelphia as a Substitute Teacher and in 1979 he became a Social Worker for the Department of Human Services. . After obtaining his master’s degree in 1985, he became a supervisor of the specialized unit for terminally ill and severely disabled children. He was also awarded the opportunity to provide testimony to the United States Congressional Committee as an Advocate for enhancing services and support to all youths in and out of home care. Francis also maintained a leadership role for 20 years with the National Association for Black Social Workers. In 2004 he retired from the department OF Human Services after providing=g over 24 years of services to children and families.
Francis found enjoyment in listening to music (oldies & Gospel), following sports, cooking, traveling and social gatherings. His personality lit up the room. He also dedicated his time and energy to improving his health. He decided to walk to and from work and managed to lose 100 lbs. which allowed him to discontinue his Diabetic medication (to God be the Glory). Lastly, he was also an advocate for family members and friends providing personal educational and financial support in helping them achieve their goals. His spirit of kindness resonates in their lives today.
He leaves to celebrate his life a sister Rosemary Henson, Brothers- Dudley Riley, Leonard Riley, Robeert Riley along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special Thank you goes to his caregivers Julius, Ossie and Crumble.
