Gertrude Mae Winston Black, was born on May 8, 1932, to the late Morton and Gracie Robertson, in Wake County, North Carolina. Gertrude who was affectionately was known as Mutt, professed Christ at an early age and united with was the Riley Hill Baptist church, in Wendell North Carolina. She completed her education in the North Carolina School System and later completed Cosmetology School in Newark, NJ. She was united in matrimony to the late Willard Winston Sr. and from that union, 4 children. She later relocated to Newark, NJ, where she met married the late D.B. "Poppa" Black. Mutt was employed with ALP Bakery several years. She later worked at Essex County College and Exon in electronics, where she retired. She later relocated to Philadelphia PA. On October 29, 2017, Sunday morning God in his Infinite wisdom saw fit to call Mutt home. She was preceded in death by her late husband, D.B., Black. Three sons, Willard Jr., Robert and Charles Winston. Three grandchildren, Dorian, Taleeya, Robert, Four sisters, Dorothy, Gladys, Marcolia and Etheleen, Two brothers, Lester and James Colman. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Shelia Ann Winston Green Thomas, Son-in-law, Randal Thomas, One brother, Walter Robertson, eleven grandchildren, Tonika, Calvin, Hasson, Joyce, Charmaine, Maloni, Lloyd, Steven, Lonnie and Shalonda, Alnesha, and Hannifah. 39 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. c
