Homer Austin Jr. (nicknamed "Moochie") by his great-aunt, the late Janie Avant, the sister of his grandmother, the late Agnes Rose) was born on July 4, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA., to the late Homer Auston, Sr. and Lulabell Auston.
Homer was educated through the Philadelphia Public School System. while attending Southern High School, his height did not go unnoticed and he was recruited to play on the varsity basketball team. after earning his GED in 1974, he went on to take college courses at LaSalle College. Homer was a "Math Whiz" and always expressed the importance of education to his children and grandchildren.
Homer met Katie Adele Riddick in1968 and he knew, immediately, that she would be his wife. homer and Katie untied in holy Matrimony on November 8, 1969. From this union, God blessed the young couple with two children: Homer Auston, III, "Pooh" and Dior Adele Auston, "Dee." His beloved wife, advocate and friend departed this life on August 20, 2010.
Moochie was the life of the party everywhere he traveled and his zest for life was contagious. He was also known for his cigar smoking. infamous comebacks, his trash-talking personality, and no non-sense demeanor. IF you did not recognize Moochie by his height, his LOUD mouth, or his laugh you would recognize him from all that Lakers gear! Moochie has been a Lakers fan since the team acquired Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Hence, the Lakers 33 license plate) in1975 and remained a fan to present. Through Moochie was of a quick with and had a peculiar sense of humor, he truly lived up to the name "Gentle Giant". He had a Genuine, Giants heart through his delivery could be rough at times. Moochie touched so many people with his generosity, guidance, assistance, and support.

Auston, Boniswa N. Auston, Senon K. Auston and Sabih A. Auston; a host of family and friends.
