Irvin Henry Madison was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Lucille G. White and Charles P. Madison Sr. on September 2, 1946. He was of Indian descent (Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head of Bluffs Massachusetts). Tippy as he was affectionately called, was born the Thrird child of seven siblings.
Tippy began his early education at Landreth Elementary school. His grandmother Nanny moved him to St. Charles borromeo Roman catholic to receive a better education from there he attended St. Emma's Military Academy located in Powhatan, VA. He graduated in 1965 with the rank of First Lieutenant.
At the completion of his education, he began his working career at General Electric then continued with U.S. Postal Service from which he retired after 33 years of service. Tippy had six siblings to whom he was very close. He enjoyed being among his family and love going toAtlantic City to spend time with his sister Cheryl and only brother-in-law Perry Reaves. AC was the place for him because he loved Blackjack.
