On May, 1948 James Preston Stevens was born to the late James Arthur Stevens and Ethel Lee Carter in North Carolina. Jimmy Chi Chip Poppy as he was affectionately known by.
He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and graduated at Bok Vocational High School.
James was a member of Lamont AME church for six years.
James was Joined I holy matrimony on Dec 15, 1970 to Denise Jackson. To this union two sons were born, Glenn Stevens, Mark Stevens, and he also had a daughter Kimberly Stevens.
James' Character was a man of many talents, Tailor, basketball, dancing, listening to the whispers, O'Jays. His grandchildren and great grands was his life. James loved singing with the Lamont Male Choir.
James was dedicated employee to the Philadelphia Water Department for 35 years. Retiring as a Fornin James loved and lived life to the fullest. He particularly enjoyed spending time in South Philly spending time with family and friends.
He was a quiet storm. He will be sadly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Denise Stevens; one daughter, Kimberly Stevens; two sons, Glenn, Shamir, Dior, Shanea, Heaven, Cevyn: 12 great grandchildren; one loving sister, Louis Hill; Daughter in law Kimberly Stevens; brother in law, Diane Bonner and Dee Jackson; Several aunts, nephews, uncles, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
