Jerry Lloyd Haskins was born on March 31, 195, to the late Bernice E. Haskins and Jerome F. Haskins in West Baltimore, Maryland. He was the second eldest child and the first son. He departed this life on Friday April 7, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA.
At the age of 4, Jerry and his parents along with his sister, Sonya moved to West Philadelphia where he attend St. Agatha Catholic School. He also attended St. Ignatius Middle School and graduated from Sulzberger Public High School.
His father, who worked for The Philadelphia Housing Authority, introduced him to masonry industry, where he found a love for electrical work. Jerry could fix/build anything you put in front of him. He was taught to measure twice and cut once. He Found a true passion for being an electrician and worked on some of Philadelphia's major buildings. We could say he lit up the whole city!
He also had a love for speed. He traded his car in for a motorcycle. In the early 80's, Jerry teamed up with Skip and Byrd and founded a nonprofit organization which we know today as Twisters Motorcycle Club. Jerry AKA "Sweetback" became the first president of the organization.
The Twisters Motorcycle Club was not only a motorcycle organization they were community activies in the greater Philadelphia area. Over the years the organization grew, and now have Chapters up and down the east coast. Jerry introduced so many young men and women into the motorcycle lifestyle. He would spend hours upon hours fixing up motorcycles.
He was intelligent, selfless, charming, smooth, a great leader, a father, a brother, an uncle, a handyman and has touched so many hearts. He taught many life skills to youngerpeople and he would do anything for you, butyou had to listen to his story first, so he knew you understood where he was coming from. To know Sweetback is and will always be to love him. He was one of a kind.
Jerry leaves loving memories with; his two biological children Jerry Jr, and Ambra. Mr. Sparky (his dog); his siblings Sonya, Yvonne, Irvene, Anthony, Martin, Mitchell and Glenn; three sisters-in-law; nieces and nephew and a host of lifelong friends, bonus nieces and nephews, bonus children and grandchildren and his brothers and sisters of The Twisters MC/SC Club.
