John "JW" Wesley Wilson, 85, returned to his
heavenly home on November 2, 2020. His devotion to hi, family and his firm belief in God supported him and gave him peace.
One of 14 children, John was born to the late William Thomas Wilson and Julia Ann Wilson, in Mayesville, South Carolina on July 26, 1935. John graduated from Mayesville Institute High School and relocated to Washington DC, and a year later, to Philadelphia.
John married the late Jasia Gamble Wilson on April 8, 1959 in Philadelphia PA. He enjoyed being a truck driver for Jack Greenburg, Inc. for over 30 years. John was very active in his community and served as President of the Woodstock Civic Association for several years. His love of the Lord, lead him to join and later become a Senior Steward of Morris Brown AME church where he also sang on the Men's Choir. John was truly a people person at heart and enjoyed ensuring that he always looked his best. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.
John is survived by his daughter, Renee Myers, his Son-In
Law Jeffrey Myers, and his grandson, Matthew Myers, all of Fort Worth, TX; his sister Ruby Mickens, of Hampton, VA; brother, Alonza Wilson (Voila) of Hampton, VA; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
