Juawann S. Mason, age 27 departed his life on Monday October 5, 2020 in Philadelphia PA.
Juawann affectionately known as Whomp, was born on March 28, 1993 in Philadelphia PA to Parents Cindy Mason and Lamont Evans. Whomp grew up with his mother, grandmother (Ellie) and siblings in Tasker Homes. Juawann was educated in the Philadelphia school system. He attended Horace Furness High School where he started his basketball career, Juawann later transferred to Universal Audenried Charter High School in 2010 where he was a prominent basketball player wearing the Legendary #21, Juawann led his team to a win in the Winter classic championship game in December 2010. Juawann graduated High School in June 2012. Juawann went on to attend Bloomsburg University of PA, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2017. After graduating from Bloomsburg, Whomp worked as a Youth Counselor with the Job Corps of Bloomsburg PA; doing what he loved best, mentoring youth from the inner cities, Whomp enjoyed playing Sports, his favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles, Seventy Sixers and Phillies. One of Whomp happiest moments was when the Eagles won the Super bowl in 2018. Whomp enjoyed spending time with his family, he had a special place in his heart for his Nieces and Nephews. Many saw Juawann's drive as motivation for youth and adults to overcome adversity and strive for greatness. Whomp was special, to know him was to love him. Whomp always had a positive attitude and his energy was unmatched. Whomp recently moved to Miami Florida, to pursue his dreams of becoming an Entrepreneur. In his short time there, Whomp enjoyed riding Jet Skis and living his best life.
Juawann is preceded in death by his grandparents, Herbert Evans and Mrs. Joan Evans.
Juawann leaves to continue to love and cherish his memory: his mother, Cindy Mason and Father Lamont Evans; Brothers, Saleem Jones (Danielle Jones), Walter Jones, Lamont Evans jr, Sahir Evans; Sisters, Jamillah Trainer (Jason Trainer). Stepsister; Maliaka Hagwood (Rashiem Hagwood), Treasure Evans; Grandmother, Eleanor Mason; Nephews, Yasir, Jayden and Damir; Nieces, Dior, Samiyah, Jennah and Sanaa; Aunts, Tina and Theresa; Uncles, Samuel (Faye), Rick and Jay. God children Aa'sai Mason and Amari Shaw. A Special Cousin who was more like a brother; Gerald Mason; Special Friends Akeem Shaw, Elijah, Jahquan, Nate and Quadafi. A host of Cousins, Friends and Family.
