Marion Irene (Brewer) Benton was born on September 4, 1930. She was the tenth of twelve children born to the late James C Brewer and Mary Helen Brewer in Philadelphia Pa. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at the First Afercian Baptist Church. She met and married Charles Otis Benton. Marion was a doting mother to her only child, Robbin, whom she loved with all her heart.. She was employed at the United States Mint, as well as Quatermaster. She retired after numerous years of working at the Progressive Furniture Company, located at 33rd and Dickerson St. She loved to do hair, but her passion was sewing. She was an extremely gifted tailor who designed patterns and clothing for herself, her daughter, and others. She loved her Church, she was a member of the Treasury, and choir, of First Africian Baptist Church, where she attended until she became ill. Marion could cook anything, she made a cherry cheesecake out of this world, and everyone wanted the recipe. Marion also loved to travel, sing dance and have fun.
Marion leaves to mourn, her loving daughter, Robbin, her son in law Anthony, two grandsons, Dantee and Anthonthy, two granddaughters, twins Tylar and Taylor, her granddaughter in law Damaris her great-granddaughter Sonia one sister, Margaret, four sister-in law Claire, Marian, Nettie and Sarah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
