Mary Elle Lytes was born to the late Adlean and Nathan Brown on October 19, 1943
Mary was educated in Lynchburg, Virginia. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. Mary moved to Philadelphia, PA where she met and married Sindie Benny Simmons. Out of this union came four daughters, Lisa Ann Adams, Kimberly Toya Simmons. This union ended and Mary later married Brodie Lytes on January 9, 1982
Mary was a homemaker and caretaker. She loved to cook and take care of people. She often opened her home to other. Mary nerve hesitated to feed people or provide a home for someone in need of a place to stay. She had a competitive side to her also and enjoyed playing cards, Pokeno, and Yahtzee. But her all time favorite was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mary was known to many as “Mom”, “Mom Mary” or grand Mom. She loved on so many people that everyone affectionately loved her.
Mary leaves behind to mourn, her husband Brodie Lytes, her four daughters: Lisa (Hasan), Kimberly, Felicita (Gregory) Cynthia, Nine Grandchildren: Ondria, Tyreek, Hasan, Brittany, Sindora, Thomas, Nafis, Tiffany, and Gregory, 4 great grandchildren, Tymir, Taylor, Idalia, and Carter. She also leaves Behind 3 brothers Nathan (Frances), Bill (Naomi), Thomas (Rose), 3 Sisters Bertha (Clinton), Patricia (Otis), and Eleanor, Her Best Friend who is like a sister Betsy McFadden, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend.
