Mildred Laws, the daughter of the late Henry Laws and Mildred Leftwich was born April 14, 1954 in Belgrade Flordia. She departed this life to be home with her Lord on May 17, 2012.
Mildred was affectionately knoown as "Gappy" from early childhood and was educated in the Philadelphia public school system. Her passion in life was babysitting her nieces and nephews. Her affectionate nuturing continued into the next generation of great nieces and nephews. Her gentle spirit and motherly touch enriched their lives through the early years into adulthood. Aunt Gappy could always be counted on for laughter, guidance and firm advice when needed. She would lovingly tell her sisters the children were her babies.
Gappy and her sisters relationship were overwhelmingly strong and positive. Together, the sisters could whether any storm and uniting their individual strengths together for the betterment of the family. This relationship was instilled and guided from childhood by a very strong phenomenal matriarch, their Mother, Mildred Leftwich.
Gappy would brighten up the room when she arrived and you could count on continued entertainment.
Gappy was influenced by her Mother to start each day by giving glory to the Lord. She was baptized at an early age and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior.
Mildred was employed in the customer service field and worked at several companies, Spiegel Inc, Insurance Company of North Amercia, and as a manager at Brad Allen Bookstore Inc.
Gappy was the youngest of her siblings and she enjoyed that position as she was always protected. She was unconditionally loved and adored by the entire family and this extended beyond her immediate family.
Gappy enjoyed reading, music, a challenging game of Pinochle and Bid Whiz, television shows, traveling and a family game of Pokeno.
Mildred was a homemaker and shared her life with Clifton Hankins.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memories: sister, Christine Jankans, Gloria, Carol (Nancy), Basiymah, Jessie, Barbara, Mary, Martha, Cassandra and Doris: Brothers, Kenneth, Nathaniel, Dudley, Randall Michael, Anthony, Robert, James, Henry Jr, Henry Sr: and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Pre-deceased family members: Wyatt, James, Henry, Vivian, Rashan, Elizabeth and Maybell
