Mildred Utsey

April 30, 1939 — June 10, 2021

We celebrate the long, beautiful, and fruitful life of Mildred Utsey, whose earthly life began on April 30, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, and came to a peaceful end on June 10, 2021. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and graduated from Bok High School. She had one Son, Eric W. Utsey. She worked at G.H. Alliance as a Machine Operator until she retired. Mildred was an excellent cook and hostess. Christmas was her favorite holiday to celebrate and she went into planning mode immediately following Thanksgiving. She selected a Theme for the year and this theme was reflected throughout her home . She always had large beautiful tree, balloons everywhere, garland, lights, decorations, and music playing throughout her house. When you entered her home, you were transported to a magical Christmas fantasy. It was her great pleasure and absolute delight to cook and host Christmas. We all looked forward to dining, dancing, laughing and talking. It was standing room only. All were welcomed. Mildred loved to travel and her favorite mode of travel was cruising. She loved shopping, music, dancing, playing the slots, and laughing; but most of all, she loved God and her life reflected that. She was kind and patient. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Purvie Utsey, Sr. and Anna May, as well as her son, Eric, brother, Purvie (Lillian), Benjamin Sr., (Violet), Eugene Sr., (Delores) and Willie, and sisters Valda (Bernard), Estelle (Wilbur) and Blanche (Samuel), niece Belinda, Nephew Wilbert Jr. Mildred is survived by her four grandchildren Brittani, Zion, Graham, and Ayinde; two great grand children Mason and Mia, and brother, Wilbert Sr., Nieces- Deborah, Lorraine, Venus, Arlette and Tonya; nephews - Albert (Darlene), Andre (Delores), Robert (Corona), Bernard (Lisa), Yancey, Benjamin Jr. Eugene Jr., (Shirley); Wilbert Jr. (Valerie) and Duane (Ann); a host of great nieces and nephews; a special friends Earnest Mackey, (Anthony), very close friends, Geraldine Goodin (Pat and Felton Pedro), the Torrance Family; Millie Harris, Constance Jones, and Lillian Simms (Bridget); and special cousins Glendora Willis and Arthur Snell.
