On July 22,2021, our beloved Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, & Friend Miriam T. Clarke passed away suddenly in Philadelphia, Pa. Miriam was the third child of Elizabeth Ricks William Chestnut preceded by her three sisters Polly, Willemena, and Arlene.
Miriam T. Clarke was born in Phila. Pa. in 1926, where she entered the Phila. School system up to the eleventh grade. She left school and went into training to become a skilled private duty nurse specializing in pediatric critical care. She spent many years traveling to many different households across the greater Phila. Area. Her assignments were to take care of newborn babies that were of need of specialized care after birth. She loved her babies.
She leaves behind a daughter, Margo Pitts; a granddaughter; Pilar Todd; two grandsons; Dione Ruffin and Rafuir Ruffin; three great grandchildren; Jamall Dean, Jetuan Moore, Sequoya Ruffin; two great-great grandchildren Jada and Journie Dean, as well as her beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Our cherished matriarch loved the Lord as a member of Sharon Baptist for many years, spending time with her family, shopping, dancing, cleaning (she was a clean freak) and most of all she loved to give. She was a straight shooter; and will tell it like it is to make sure it was clear and done right. She carried out the definition of feistiness. She was more than just a pretty face. She left a piece of herself in all of us. Her impact on her family is her legacy.
