ISIAH (ISAIAH) HAMILTON AFFECTIONATELY KNOWN AS "IKE" SECOND SON OF THE LATE ROOSEVELT AND BERNICE HAMILTON WAS BORN ON APRIL 24, 1934, IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
IKE WAS A DEVOTED SON AND A LOVING BROTHER TO HIS ONE SISTER AND FIVE BROTHERS.
AFTER RELOCATING TO PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA IKE ATTENDED THE PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. IKE MET AND MARRIED THE LATE JULIA MAE HAMILTON IN MARCH 1968. IKE WAS A GREAT BUSINESSMAN AND MENTOR. FRIENDS CALLED HIM THE "BIG BOSS MAN." SELF-EM-PLOYED, HARDWORKING EXPERT BRICK LAYER, CEMENT WORKER, BUILDER (FIREPLACES, PATIOS), AND HAULER.
IKE LOVED FISHING (CATCHING PORGIES & SEABASS) WITH TRIPS TO BOSTON, MA, AND MARYLAND FOR DEEP-SEA FISHING WITH HIS CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY - BRINGING BACK COOLERS OF FRESH CAUGHT FISH. BACK IN THE DAY, YOU COULD RIDE PASS HIS HOUSE ON THE 1400 BLOCK OF S. 15TH STREET AND SEE HIS FISHING BOAT CONNECTED TO THE CAB OF HIS TRUCK. IKE WAS LOVED IMMENSELY BY HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
A TALL (6'+) GENEROUS, CHARISMATIC, KIND, FREE-HEARTED MAN, AND A SOUNDBOARD TO MANY. IKE ENJOYED ENTERTAINING FAMILY AND FRIENDS. ALWAYS THE LIFE OF THE PARTY AND HAD A STORY TO TELL - AT TIMES ENDING THE STORY WITH HIS HANDS UP AND SAYING: "I DON'T KNOW!"
IKE OPENED HIS HOME TO MANY FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS DURING THEIR TIME OF NEED. HE LOVED COOKING DELICIOUS SOUTHERN MEALS. IF YOU CAME TO HIS HOUSE, YOU WERE GUARANTEED GOOD HOSPITALITY, A STORY, AND A SOUTHERN HOME COOKED MEAL. IKE WAS LOVED BY MANY IN THE COMMUNITY, HIS BROTHERS AND SISTER, NIECES, NEPHEWS, FRIENDS, AND NEIGHBORS.... HE WAS LIKE THE "PIED PIPER" IN SOUTH PHILLY.
ON SUNNY DAYS YOU COULD CATCH IKE SITTING ON HIS TALL OFFICE CHAIR ON THE TOP OF HIS PORCH/STEPS CHATTING WITH EITHER HIS BROTHERS, BEST FRIENDS AND/OR NEIGHBORS. IKE WAS A GOOD MAN, AND HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED, BUT LOVINGLY REMEMBERED. THOUGH UP IN AGE, IKE HAD A STRONG SPIRIT UNTIL THE DAY HE ENTERED PEACEFULLY INTO ETERNAL REST ON APRIL 18, 2023.
IKE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE, JULIA MAE; FIVE BROTHERS: BENJAMIN ("MUHAMMAD"); ROOSEVELT ("JOE"); WILLIAM ("BILL"); RICHARD ("BOOKIE") AND JERRY.
IKE LEFT A LEGACY AND FAMILY & FRIENDS WHO WILL ALWAYS CHERISH HIS MEMORIES: HIS SISTER, ROSELLA; TWO SISTER-IN-LAWS: HELEN ("JOE") AND DIANE ("JERRY"), A HOST OF LOVING NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS, FRIENDS, AND NEIGHBORS. LIFELONG FRIENDS: CLARENCE ("PEEWEE") RICHARDSON; LAWRENCE RICHARDSON; JULIUS ("POP") RICHARDSON; NATHANIEL ("TEE") RICHARDSON; PALMER ROBERTS; KEITH JONES; FLOYD; MUHAMMAD; TINGEE; AND FRANK.
