On Friday December 29, 2023, Luther Buie sweet spirit went to dwell with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 
     Luther Buie was born December 13, 1923 in Scotland County NC to the late John and Hattie Mosley Buie. Luther was the oldest of three boys. Luther lost both of his parents at a very young age, which caused him to move to Durham NC with his aunt Bertha, whom he loved dearly. 
     Luther served in the US Army in the early 1940’s during World War Two, after his honorary discharge he then moved to Philadelphia Pennsylvania where he then met his wife Josephine Buie. From this union seven children were born. 
     Luther worked as a construction worker and assisted with building storm sewer tunnels in several states such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Washington DC, Detroit, and Connecticut. 
     Luther was a 32nd degree Mason. Once he joined the Masonic he became a better man, and learned a lot about life. He also received his Eastern Star degree. He served in the Associated Grand Patron for five years. 
     Luther was ordained as a deacon in the early 1950’s by Dr. A.J Spence. He served as a deacon at Daniel Temple, Gospel Temple, and before his passing at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of pastor Trondell Hill. 
     Luther loved praying and singing. No matter what family event was goin on a word of prayer was going get done. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He had his own special nickname for almost all of them. 
     When Luther entered the pearly gates he met those who proceeds him in death. His parents John and Hattie Buie, his wife Josephine, two children Andre and Luther (Marty), two brothers Joe and Leroy, his aunt Bertha, two grands Julius (Peach), and Fred, one great grand Raynierre, two great great grands Andre Jr., and Darren Jr., his God daughter Sue Peterson, and his best friend Nathaniel Wilds. 
     Luther leaves to cherish in his memory six children Patricia (Julius), Regina, Geraldine, Michael, Glenda, and Brandon. One God son Donald, Thirteen grandchildren Anthony, Mynell, Tavika, Monica, Nafis (Danyelle), Serrita (Tradon), Latoyah, Samirah (David), Aquila (Paul), Najir, Monica, Kalee, and Brenson. Fifty two great grands, and thirty one great-great grands. Three special friends Joe Hardy, Lawrence Houston, Winfred Cherry. 
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Last and not least his Church family.
