On October 27, 1942, a beautiful soul, Muriel Mack, was born with the kindest heart, beautiful inside and out. Muriel was a genuinely sweet, loving and caring person who always wanted to help people any way that she could. This was the essence of her personality.
Muriel was educated in the Philadelphia school system. She was baptized and later received the Right Hand of Fellowship at Mother Bethel A.M.C. Church where she continued to learn the word of the Lord.
Muriel would return to Philadelphia after living in Atlanta, Georgia with her late husband Bennie Mack for several years. Upon returning to Philadelphia after Ben passed away, Muriels son, Kelly Hutchins, and daughter-in-law, Desiree, encouraged her to join local senior activity centers. Muriel loved the idea. While attending various centers in South Philly she met many people, made many friends, enjoyed lots of fun celebrations such as birthdays and holidays, and she never missed her favorite event - a trip to the Atlantic City casinos. Win or lose - Muriel would often be the first person at the center (many times an hour before it even opened) waiting for the coach bus on those AC trip days.
Although not always easy, Muriel lived a fulfilling life. In her own words from a handwritten letter to her family:
"Dear Kelly, Des, Ronnie, and Terrell you are the bright lights in my life. I am so grateful to God for allowing me to spend the rest of my life near you. I had an interesting and wonderful Life. I love you all so very much. Enjoy your lives like I enjoyed mine."
Muriel leaves to cherish her memories, Desireé (daughter-in-law), Ronnie and Terrell (grandsons), Marjorie Hutchins, Traci Hutchins and Rachel (her Beloved nieces), Vivian Burbage (a dear Friend), and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Muriel was preceded in death by Marjorie and Charles Hutchins (parents), Bennie Mack (husband), Kelly Hutchins (son), Leonore Wiggins and Vivian Bradshaw (sisters) and Charles Hutchins (brother).
