Obediah Combs (Obie) was on April 18, 1938 to the late Henry Combs, Sr, and Isophena Richardson. He was the youngest of five siblings. Obie Siblings preceded him in death: Henry Combs Jr. Ruth Summers, Betty Harrison, and John Combs. Obie transitioned into the arms of his heavenly Father on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospice Center.
Obie graduated from Bok Vocational High School in South Philadelphia After High School he joined the United States Army which he served two years in the Military.
Obie's passion for cooking landed him a job with the Sheraton Hotel as a top chef for twenty six years. He left the Sheraton to pursue a career with the Philadelphia School system as a Cafeteria Manager at William Penn High School until his retirement in June 2000. his love for cooking allowed him to start his own catering business Obie's skills in the kitchen keep him cooking for his church weddings, summer camps, and reunions.
Obie accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age. He has been a faithful member of Zion AME Church for many years. Obie was faithful Sunday School Pupil.
He served on the board of trustees as Pro-temp. Obie was very supportive of all the organizations in his church.
Obie was raised by his Godmother, Annie Emma who preceded him in death. Obie never married or had a child, so he adopted His Siblings' children as his own kids. Especially during the Christmas holiday, he would give each nephew and niece money for Christmas this tradition went on for years.
Obie leaves behind top cherish his memory: Nephews & Nieces; William Summers, Jocelyn Murry, Iris Skinner, Donna Combs, Linda Harrison, Kerry Harrison, Kenneth Harrison, Dwyane Harrison, Troy Combs, Tammi Lindsay, and Tracy Wilson.
