Ruth May Jackson was born in Hardeville, South Carolina on October 18, 1935, to the late George Hamilton Sr. And Essie Fireall Hamilton. On May 31, 2023, Ruth Mae Jackson passed away, peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by her loving family during the last days of her life.
Ruth’s parents shared common values of a better life when they migrated north to Philadelphia. Ruth was educated in the Philadelphia Public school system. As a very modest and private person, her dream was to get married and have children. She lived her entire life in South Philly, and was more than happy to simply be the central figure in the lives of her children. She raised eight boys as a single parent after an untimely death of her husband. Anyone who knew her son knew that she was the star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her and made her happy. Ruth dedicated her entire life to her children’s well-being, support, and achievements, and they are immensely grateful for her, showing them how to live and succeed as honorable men, often through very difficult conditions and circumstances.
Ruth dedicated her life to Jehovah God and symbolized that dedication By getting baptized as one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 22, 1987. Even when she was not able to engage in door-to-door ministry, she always made sure to send family and friends, encouraging literature about the earthly paradise that her God promised. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah God for 36 years. Ruth cared deeply for her family and neighbors.
She did this, not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer her help when needed, while she did not care to be the center of attention, she would always support others, and whatever way she could. Ruth always ensured that every child who crossed her Threshold, was safe, healthy and happy.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jackson, brother, George Hamilton, JR. And two sons Charles, JR. And Andrew Jackson. Ruth leaves to cherish, and find memory her loving six sons (and daughters-in-law); Kenneth (Evelyn), Perry, Jerome (Johnetta), James (Charisse), George (Vindetta) and Anthony (Darlene); two siblings, James Bennett and Lenora Young, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
