Shahyodd Chavis

Shanties “ Hoddy” Chavis was born on December 14, 1994, he was the middle son of Daniel and Thais Chavis. Hoddy was a brave and daring young man from the time he was a baby. At an early age Hoody fell in love with hot wheel cars. Everywhere he went, he took his cars with him, and wouldn’t let anybody touch his cars.

Hoddy started his education at St. Thomas Aquinas School. It was at an early age Hoddy developed his love for sports.

He first joined the basketball team at school. He found the sport he loved the most, when he joined the South Philly Seminoles football team. When Hoddy reached the seventh grade, he joined the Mount Carmel Warriors. In His 8th grade year the Warriors won the championship of the Catholic youth football league. In high school Hoddy Attended West Catholic, where he also joined the football team as a freshman: This team went on to win a PIAA State Championship. 

Hoddy was a winner. After his sophomore year, Hoddy was a part of a championship team, Imhotep Won The 2012 PIAA State Championship. As a senior Hoddy Was selected to the Philadelphia All-City All-Star game. He was offered a partial scholarship to Indiana, University of Pennsylvania in division two school. Hoddy was not satisfied. With the achievement, he wanted more, so he transferred to Lackawanna junior college to try and earn a division one. Scholarship.

Sadly Hoddy was unsuccessful. It was at this time Hoddy found his passion for riding motorcycles where he became an expert Hoddy could ride them bikes, like a daredevil. He was crazy about his motorcycles. After leaving college Hoddy Began his working career at Cintas Uniform company in West Philadelphia.

After several years Hoddy left Cintas and started as an Amazon delivery driver. Once again. Hoddy became restless at Amazon and he found his final career when he began as a seasonal electrician for IBEW, local, 98.

Shahyodd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel and Chartetta Chavis, Robert and Jacqueline Richards. Great grandparents, Walter and Mildred Malcolm, David, and Ruth Richards. Aunt, Sarena Boone.

Leaves to mourn parents, Daniel, and Thaisa Chavis, brother Dior, Stacy, Devon, Tajheir, Rasheed, Quinzell, Jonathan. Sister Rasheeda, sister-in-law, Jennifer. Grandmother, Olivia Holmes. Aunt Shamika Brown, uncles Raymond Richards, Arthur Eubank, Roger Emma, Nathaniel Brown, great aunt Sharon Whittaker, great uncle Eric Malcolm. Cousins Johnnie, Tamara Leona, Jana, Janelle, Sherron, Saleemah, Sahara’s, Nate, Shameka, Shaquan, Raymond Jr. Dennis, Darrell, Wayne, Eric, Maya, Tymeer, Keyssan, Greg and Carlos; for nieces Aaliyah, Aubrey, Sophia, Savanna, for nephews, Christian, Dylan, Noah, DJ, and a host of cousins and friends
