Shirley Ferron

Shirley Anne Ferron was born in Philadelphia, Pa on October 27, 1932, to very loving parents Everage and Sarah Ferron. She was the next to the last born of this union, which consisted of 5brothers and 6 sisters. Her mother, father and all siblings except her her older Sister Lula Bottoms proceeded her in death. Shirley was Educated in the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from West Philadelphia High School in 1949. Shirley worked at the Bell Telephone Co. upon graduation. It was during this time that she met her husband, Norman Jones Sr. at her best friends wedding. From this union six children were born, Leah, Norman Jr. Brain Sr., Allison, Susan and Wendy. She later was employed by the School District of Philadelphia until her retirement in 1993. Upon retiring from the School District, she went to work at the Berean Institute for 7 more years. Shirley enjoyed reading murder mysteries, going to shows, traveling with her cruise partner (niece Peggy Jubilee), thrift store shopping and most of all spending time with her family, especially during holidays and family reunions. Shirley always desired to move to the country and in 2004 she moved to Bedford, Pa making her dream a reality. Whenever she she returned to Philadelphia to visit, she enjoyed attending True Light Fellowship church to worship, "I like the way Pastor Pinnock preaches" she would say. Shirley has made numerous friends over the years including her friend of over 35 years Dr. Doris Macon Ross and her neighbors, until her passing Brook and Lorna Foor. Shirley was a giving person, always sharing her time and money wherever there was a need. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Norman jr. (Karen), Brian sr. daughters daughters Leah, Allison, Susan, Wendy, 14 grand-children, 24 Great-grandchildren, 8 Great-great-grandchildren, 2 Sister In-laws Etta Ferron and Delores Ferron, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
